What is alkaline?
Alkalinity is a measure of pH, or “potential for Hydrogen.” The pH scale measures the acidity or alkalinity of a solution. Alkaline water usually varies from a 7-10 on the pH scale, whereas tap water and bottled water measure on the acidic side. All solutions have a pH level including animals, humans, plants, drinks, bacteria, yeast, parasites, and food. Everything can thrive as long as their natural pH level is balanced. Click on the chart below to read more about how different drinks measure up on the pH scale.
Know your pH
In the early 1900’s, scientists began studying the relationship between what we drink and the pH of our bodies. They learned that by simply changing a person’s diet, pH levels could return to normal and even resolve major health issues. The quickest and simplest way to change the alkalinity of your body is through water. Research shows that you should be drinking half their body weight in ounces per day.
In order to maintain a perfect living environment, our bodies need to achieve around a 7.4 pH level, just a little bit on the alkaline side of neutral. Our pH level is a measurement of our body’s electrical balance, which helps to regulate a variety of bodily functions. If our pH varies too much from the ideal level of 7.4, it becomes difficult for enzymes to function properly and may develop acidosis or alkalosis.
Over time, our foods have become extremely processed. We consume large amounts of sugar, dairy products, and more than we did 50 years ago, which is creating a pH imbalance.
A healthy diet that is rich in alkaline water and foods can help regulate your pH level and maintain a healthy and functioning body. A slightly alkaline body pH level leads to increased energy, clear skin, weight loss, better digestion, and can even reverse and prevent diseases. Alkaline water, alkaline, alkaline ionized water, alkaline water store, alkaline
In order to hydrate your body optimally, you need to drink water that is alkaline and ionized.
Alkaline water helps to neutralize stored acids and toxins. Once these acids are neutralized, they can then be removed by the body. Alkaline water containing ionic minerals also acts as a conductor of electrochemical activity from cell to cell. Reports from studies suggest that ionized, alkaline water can help the body resist disease and slow aging by:
Increasing Intracellular Hydration
Replenishing Essential Minerals
Stabilizing and Protecting Cells
Helping to Maintain Normal Blood Flow and Acid Alkaline Balance
Flushing out and Preventing Wastes from Accumulating in Cells
Preventing Free Radicals from Forming and Damaging Other Cells because the water has more antioxidants than a glass of orange juice.
While we should not drink acidic water, it has benefits and uses of its own. Ionized water has different properties at varying pH levels. For example, strong acidic water can be used for cleaning, because of its sanitizing properties. Whereas, acidic water has astringent properties that can be used as a face wash and skin cleanser.
