Core Components of Purification Systems

Core Components of Purification Systems

Whether you have a family that needs a reliable and healthy source of drinking water, or you spend a fortune buying bottled water that doesn’t seem to effectively hydrate your body, or you are simply ready to take the next step in your health and wellness plan…

It may be time to switch to an alkaline ionized water purification system.

Maybe you are a regular at our Alkaline Water Store or you are just learning about alkaline water. Either way, you have come to the right place to find more information about water ionizers.

At Coco Greens Vegan Cafe and Spa, we offer two alkaline ionized water systems, Vollara’s LivingWater and Enagic Kangen Water machines. Each system has different features to offer, each with its own pros and cons.

Do Your Homework

Purchasing your own alkaline ionized water system is an investment in your health. And like any investment, you need to do your homework. There are a lot of purification systems out there, and the amount of information can be overwhelming. When doing your research, follow the guidelines below to determine which water ionizer is right for you.

There are THREE CORE COMPONENTS to consider when researching and choosing your alkaline ionizing water purification system.

  1. Power System- Water ionizers usually come with one of two power systems: Transformer or Switch Mode Power Supply (SMPS). Transformers transfer energy through a bunch of wires wrapped together. These systems are less expensive, but are at more risk to overheating and burning out if used for long durations of time. If you are purchasing an alkaline ionizing purification system for everyday at-home use, a transformer system should suffice. However, businesses and large families might want to consider the alternative. Switch Mode Power Supply uses a digital power system that relies on microprocessors and resistors to regulate power flow. It has the ability to determine the amount of power needed and adjust the power flow into appropriate increments. SMPS allows the water ionizer to use less power, more efficiently, and eliminates the risk of overheating and burning out.

  2. Filters- Most water ionizers have a single or dual filtration system. The type needed usually depends on your location. For example, if you live in a rural area or small town, a single filter will sufficiently treat your water. However, anyone living in or near a large city will need a dual filtration system. This is due to the lower quality water supply that comes with a higher population density. Another factor to consider is the quality of your local water treatment facility. You can usually find more information and facts about water treatment on your local government’s website.  Areas with poor tap water filtration or heavily polluted water supplies might need the additional filter to remove increased levels of chlorine, sediment, grit, taste, and odor.

  3. Plates- The number of plates in an alkaline ionizing purification system determines the pH range effectiveness and frequency at which the machine will function properly. For example, anyone purchasing a water ionizer for a business or large family should consider a purification system that offers a 7 Plate System. This will ensure that the machine lasts longer despite increased quantity of water dispensed and higher frequency of consumption. Here at Coco Greens, our Kangen Water machine has a 7 plate system to accommodate hundreds of customers per week.  Most alkaline water ionizers come in three varieties:

More plates do not always mean a better machine. Much like any technology, you buy a product to accommodate your needs. A 5 Plate System has more than enough power to supply a typical home with ionized drinking water and other beneficial uses for many years. Whereas a 3 Plate System has the power and strength to provide the alkaline drinking water, but cannot reach the level needed to create acidic water. So if you plan to use your water ionizer exclusively for drinking water, this system is the perfect choice for you.

Some purification systems do not use the plate system, such as Vollara’s LivingWater ionizer which uses direct disk ionization. Click here to learn about this type of system.

Keep these THREE CORE COMPONENTS in mind as you move forward with your research on water purification systems.
